Welcome,
I’m Spencer Nageleisen (he/him), a registered psychotherapist committed to guiding youth and adults toward a life of purpose and meaning.
My passion for human behavior began back in high school, leading me to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Science with a specialization in psychology from the University of Ottawa.
In my early twenties, however, academic knowledge met personal struggle. I was deeply unhappy—put simply, I was stuck and in need of clarity on what it meant to live my truth. I sought the help of a therapist, and through that extensive personal work, I was able to break free from the “stuckness” and begin to thrive. That transformative experience inspired me to go back to school to complete my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
Through both my personal and professional experience, I have seen the profound potential that having an empathetic listener and ally has on relieving suffering.
As a gay therapist experienced with LGBTQ+ clients, you also won’t need to constantly explain yourself. My practice is always grounded in anti-oppression, is queer affirming, and welcomes everyone.
Allow me to accompany you with empathy and compassion as you overcome the “stuckness” in your life. Together, we can explore what it means for you to begin to live your truth, whatever that may entail.
(When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll find me cooking up a storm in the kitchen, spending time with my partner, out on a walk listening to a podcast, watching TV or reading.)

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process where you work with a trained professional to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It’s about gaining insight, developing coping strategies, and making meaningful changes to improve your mental well-being and live a more fulfilling life. The psychotherapist will help you move from feeling “stuck” to empowered.
What concerns do you help with?
In individual therapy, I work with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, identity exploration, stress, and navigating life transitions. The aim is always to help you build resilience and find greater purpose and meaning.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
Both! From my office in St. Catharines, Ontario I am able to offer in-person counselling to clients in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, Niagara on the Lake and Grimsby. And convenient online therapy sessions for anyone located anywhere within Ontario.
How do I get started or book a session?
The best way to start is by booking a free good fit chat. This brief consultation allows us to understand your needs and ensure my services are the right fit for you. You can easily schedule this through this booking link.
What happens after I book a “good fit chat”?
The moment you select a time through my secure booking portal (JaneApp), you’ll receive an automated confirmation email. This email will include information about our upcoming video call, no wondering if the booking actually went through.
The day of our clinical consultation (“good fit chat”) you will receive another email 30 minutes before our chat. This is not a therapy session, it’s a casual conversation. We’ll spend about 15 minutes talking about
- What’s bringing you to therapy right now.
- What you’re looking for in a therapist.
- My approach and how I can specifically help with your goals.
- Any questions you have about insurance, fees, or scheduling.
After our call, I encourage you to take some time to see how you feel. Therapy is an investment of your time and vulnerability, and the “fit” is the most important factor for success. If it feels like a “yes,” we move forward. If you feel like you might need a different style of support, I am happy to provide referrals to other trusted colleagues.
If we decide to work together, I’ll send you a digital intake package through my secure portal. You can fill out the consent forms at your own pace before our first full session.
In our first full therapy session, we’ll hit the ground running. We’ll begin identifying the patterns you want to change and building the strategies that will help you feel more grounded and authentic in your daily life.
